Looking Towards the Future
We have successfully closed our pre-seed funding round—Alhamdulillah! Then, winning the Zayed Sustainability Prize gave us an extra boost to build a sustainable business that benefits both people and nature. Now, we are hiring talented individuals in key positions to take Palki Motors from an early-stage startup to a full-fledged seed level company.
As the team starts to settle in, I finally have some time to think about the future.
Beyond building a profitable business, I have two big ideas in mind:
- A micro-factory that can make cars autonomously.
- Innovative materials for car manufacturing.
Rethinking Car Manufacturing
Right now, at Palki Motors, we build cars manually. We cut and bend sheet metal to shape the car’s body and chassis. Then, these parts are welded together to form a complete structure.
In a micro-factory model, the more parts we have, the more machines and processes we need—which increases costs. One possible solution is casting, but the machines required for it are very large.
Another futuristic approach is nanotechnology, but right now, it only exists in science fiction. My dream is programmable matter—materials that can change shape on command. However, it might take another century to make this a reality.
A more practical idea is configurable dies—a single die that can be programmed to create different shapes, rather than needing separate dies for each part. This could make manufacturing much more efficient.
Another exciting innovation is a robotic hand that can shape sheet metal into any form. This would be a game-changing tool for the industry.
A New Era of Car Manufacturing
Since Bangladesh doesn’t have an established automobile industry, we are not restricted by old methods. This gives us a unique advantage—we can innovate freely.
The current car manufacturing process, introduced by Henry Ford over 100 years ago, is still used today. But now, we have new technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), advanced IoT, Human Interface Technology (HIT), and rapid prototyping—tools that Ford never had.
Our goal is to build affordable, high-quality, and durable electric cars. By integrating these principles into our design and manufacturing process, we can create something truly groundbreaking—something that even people from the year 3000 would be proud of.
Palki Motors is about thinking for the people and thinking ahead.
